Appearance:
The company’s founding historian is Fortunato Iuzzolini who together with his wife Giovanna Colicchio have transferred to their sons, Diego, Pasquale, Antonio and Rosa, the love and passion for their land giving life, back in 2004, to the Iuzzolini Estate. The estate covers an area of about 500 hectares of which, 100 hectares of vineyards with specialized crops, 50 hectares in secular olive grove, 100 hectares of arable land and the remaining part consisting of pastures and woods for livestock raised in the wild. In the estate are currently cultivated three varieties of native Calabrian grapes Greco Bianco, Gaglioppo and Magliocco and other varieties of vines including Pecorello, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot. The winery produces thirteen types of wine, each with its own particular characteristic, a passito, sparkling wine and two grappas for a total of about 1,200,000 bottles. Vinification: Soft pressin, traditional fermentation and 10-15days of maceration and malolactic spontaneous in stainless steel tanks. Aging 15 months in new French oak barriques and refining for 15 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Purple red with violet nuances. Nose: Honey, liquorice, Coffee, Chocolate, Tobacco, Chili Pepper, Vanilla, Mulberry, Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmeg and Star Anise. Palate: Intense, fruity and warm, full body with a slight tobacco note on the finis.
