DISTINCTIVE FEATURES
The winery’s finest. After 5 years of aging the Barolo can be considered a “Riserva”: we select our Barolo Riserva, which will be best after 15-22 years of aging, exclusively from barrels with a greater aging potential.
The Rivetto family has been in the wine industry since 1902, settling in the Barolo region in 1938. Enrico Rivetto, the fourth-generation owner, blends tradition and modern innovation, embracing a biodynamic and organic approach. As the first Demeter-certified grower in the Barolo region, Rivetto is dedicated to producing exceptional wines through innovative techniques.
The Barolo Riserva Leon represents the pinnacle of Rivetto’s craftsmanship and biodynamic philosophy. The grapes are hand-harvested from meticulously managed vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, followed by a long maceration of approximately 30 days to achieve maximum extraction and complexity. After malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for five years in large Slavonian oak casks, after which only the most promising barrels are selected for bottling as Riserva. The wine then rests further in the bottle before release. This Barolo reaches its optimal expression after 15 to 22 years of aging and is among the most refined and long-lived wines of the estate.
