Wine made from Aglianico grape, whose aging in oak barrels for two years, gives it the specific name of Aglianico di Taurasi D.O.C.G also in honor of the country where this type of grape is cultivated. These autochthonous vineyards have an inestimable value, since they are among the survivors that resisted to the phylloxera virus that stroke all European vineyards in the ‘50s. These few vineyards, have a very small production, given their age. But they give one of the most excellent Aglianico grapes. The intrinsic high quality of the grape itself, is furtherly enriched by the wood of French oak barrels of first passage which give structure to the wine, without altering its balance. The soil were these vineyards are cultivates is a deep weave soil basically light, frank-sandy . The first 80 cm of soil are made up of arenaceous substrates. In the depths there are others unedited materials. The pH is sub alkaline on the surface and average alkaline in depth. The limestone is high up all the profile where deposits of powdery lime have been detected. Good is the endowment of organic substance. The profile is dry. These are rich, pedagogically developed soils, with strong presence of volcanic material Production process: Cold maceration, skin maceration for 20 days in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts, follow the malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques. Aging: 36 months in French oak barrique and refining 12 months in bottle.
