The rural nucleus is located on the western slopes of Monte Morello, a hill that rises on the plain between Bazzano and Monteveglio within the Regional Park of the Abbey of Monteveglio. At the center stands the oldest stone building, with an irregular plan, which includes the remains of a medieval tower between structures of different ages. The toponymical appears for the first time in documents of the twelfth century as “Aibo”, a term linked to the presence of water: in fact in the Latin of Emilia “aibus” means drinking water. The locality was inhabited since very ancient times, as evidenced by the discovery of some Etruscan tombs in the 20’s of the twentieth century. In the Middle Ages on the hill was built in defense of Monteveglio a fortress, which fell during the siege placed by the emperor to this castle: the siege ended in 1092 with the victory of Countess Matilda. As evidence that the settlement of Daibo was inhabited in the Middle Ages, in 1170, it is mentioned as belonging to the family Giovanni de Aibo.
